Dealers aren't always trading for your organisation

A variation of internal fraud, dealer fraud is reportedly responsible for around 10% of telecoms revenue losses, with up to 50% of incidents occurring undocumented.

There are a range of methods by which dealers are able to perpetrate fraud against an organisation:

• Subscription fraud - creation of false identities and applications
• Commission abuse - exploitation of bonus and commission policies by altering customer/billing information in order to qualify for rewards
• Equipment fraud - service upgrades and/or equipment resale outside of agreed terms
• Box splitting - whereby dealers split packed boxes containing handsets and accessories which are subsequently sold separately.
• Promotion abuse - the incorrect registration of mobile handset IMEI, applying an incorrect tariff plan or promotional credit.
