The MinotaurCloud infrastructure comprises a centralised hosting architecture and multiple worldwide data centres offering a high availability, low latency environment, with optimal security.
Connectivity to the hosting environment is provided through multiple telecommunication providers, with diverse cable routing into the facility to avoid accidental breakage in connectivity. There are two methods of submitting data to a MinotaurCloud environment:
Bulk data transmission is suited to environments where high volume event and customer data is submitted in batch to the MinotaurCloud environment using Secure FTP (SFTP). The SFTP is a standard component of the Secure Shell (SSH) server which is installed as standard on most UNIX/LINUX systems.
Application submission is through an application provided within the MinotaurCloud environment. This allows specific data files to be uploaded as processed manually through the system. This mechanism is specifically useful for test environments.
MinotaurCloud operates on an N+1 strategy for most environments, or a full resiliency scenario if applicable. For firewalls, switches and network connectivity a fully redundant strategy is employed. This allows for any device to completely fail, yet ensures a continued service with the backup device. The 'N+1' resiliency strategy for servers ensures that should a server have a failure then there is always a backup system to take over, resulting in an uninterrupted service for our customers.
The backup policy ensures the integrity of the information for the Neural Technologies cloud environment. It is designed to prevent loss of data in the case of accidental deletion, corruption, system failure or disaster by ensuring a consistent process is adhered to.
The backups apply to servers containing customer data and infrastructure servers and is designed to provide a 'point in time' restoration of either customer data or the infrastructure environments.
Daily incremental backups are performed on all systems containing customer data, with a full backup on a weekly basis. All backups are stored in a secure local safe prior to storage in an off-site secure environment.
The MinotaurCloud environment is located in a secure data centre. All entrances are protected by secure access doors. Entry into the rack space area out of hours is additionally protected by steel shutters across all entry points.
CCTV covers all the areas within the data centre as well as the external areas and perimeter. This is recorded 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is monitored by data centre staff. A fully managed alarm and security system is in place, notifying key staff in the event of a security breach. Alarm lines are monitored every few seconds for tampering, with dual mobile backups should landlines become unavailable.
All data centre communication equipment, UPS panels, air-conditioning panels and mains supply are in a secure room with restricted security access.
N+1 uninterrupted power supply configuration is utilised that will run the server room for 20 minutes on full load. In addition a backup generator can provide power to the data centre for up to 3 days with the onsite fuel supply.
